Cooking Instructions - Stove: 1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil (Cooking Measuring Chart: 1 Cup Rice: 2-1/2 cups water, 3-1/2 cups yield, 5 servings [3/4 cup cooked]. 2 Cups Rice: 5 cups water, 7 cups yield, 9 servings [3/4 cup cooked]. 3 Cups Rice: 7-1/2 cups water, 10-1/2 cups yield, 14 servings [3/4 cup cooked]). 2. Stir in brown rice. (Add margarine and salt, if desired, for drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water). 3. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer 40 minutes or until water is absorbed. Microwave: 1. In a 2 quart microwave-safe dish combine 2-1/2 cups water with 1 cup brown rice (Cooking Measuring Chart: 1 Cup Rice: 2-1/2 cups water, 3-1/2 cups yield, 5 servings [3/4 cup cooked]. 2 Cups Rice: 5 cups water, 7 cups yield, 9 servings [3/4 cup cooked]. 3 Cups Rice: 7-1/2 cups water, 10-1/2 cups yield, 14 servings [3/4 cup cooked]). 2. Suggested Cooking Times - Cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Reduce setting to medium high, microwave for 30-40 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes.
