Flavored gourmet pork rinds. Genuine double-cooked. Since 1935. Gluten free. No preservatives. All natural ingredients. No hydrogenated oils. No artificial coloring or flavoring. US inspected and passed by Department of Agriculture. No trans fat. The Gaytan Family tradition of making chicharrones dates back to the early 1900's when grandpa Domingo used to make them in large black iron kettle set in his backyard under spreading oaks in the quiet San Gabriel Valley of California. There Domingo taught his son Florencio, later the founder of Gaytan Foods, how to slowly cook chicharrones in two stages, instead of the more traditional single-step process. The result was a uniquely light and fluffy pork rind. Florencio and his wife Jesus opened a neighborhood market in 1935. While the store carried all the essentials commonly found in stores of that time, there was one item unique to the store: home style double kettle-cooked chicharrones. The demand for the antojitos by the Mexican, Spanish, and Basque families longing for the authentic flavors of their homelands made the chicharrones very popular. Soon, making and selling their chicharrones took all of their time, and in 1950 Florencio and Jesus closed their store and devoted themselves to cooking their by-now legendary chicharrones. Today, four generations later, we still make chicharrones by double-cooking them the old-fashioned way. We use only the most select premium fresh pork rinds and pure flavorings. Our chicharrones are a legend still. We named this brand of products in honor of the grandpa who made it all possible. Gracias, Domingo. Made in the USA.
