With nothing but stars above them, miles of darkness around them and a saddlebag beneath them, the cattle drivers of old led a rugged lifestyle. But when it came time for dinner, they managed to create a masterpiece using only a few ingredients and what little they could find around them. Never written down, but passed from generation to generation, the chili recipes of the Old West all featured similar ingredients: wild herbs, fresh vegetables and peppers, and whatever meat was on hand - beef, buffalo, even venison - all mixed together and slow-cooked over an open fire. The idea behind our Two-Step Spicy Chili is no different. We use the freshest ingredients - from vine-ripened tomatoes to our unique blend of three different chile peppers.
