Cooking Directions: Cook top: Bring 2 1/2 cups of water to a boil in a 2-quart heavy saucepan.* Stir in 1 cup of rice. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 40 minutes or until all of the water is absorbed. Fluff lightly with a fork and serve. Makes 4 servings, 3/4 cup each. Microwave: Mix 3 cups of water and 1 cup of rice in a 2 1/2-quart microwave-safe dish. Microwave on high for 10 minutes uncovered, then microwave for 20 minutes at 50% power (medium), let stand 5 minutes. Fluff lightly with a fork and serve. Do not add salt or margarine to rice until after rice is cooked when using microwave directions. Makes 4 servings 3/4 cup each. *Add 1 tablespoon of margarine and 1 teaspoon salt per 1 cup uncooked rice, if desired. For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water.
