Est 1842. The original and the best. The Rayware Group: A family of vibrant British brands. Full care and use instructions can be found on the sleeve insert included inside this jar. The Original Kilner Jar, first invented by John Kilner and Co in the 1840's is a unique product which has stood the test of time for over 150 years. The clever iconic design, originally produced with a glass plug and rubber seal but more recently updated with a rubberised metal top is still helping to successfully preserve and pickle the nation's fruit and vegetables. The luxury glass preserving jar features a very easy to use metal screw top lid made up of 2 pieces: Part 1. Replaceable vacuum seal. Part 2. Metal crew band to secure the seal. The screw band can be re-used up to 10 times but the vacuum seal is not re-usable and will need to be replaced after each use. Preserving is both an economic and environmentally friendly way to maximise your fruit and vegetable over stocks and provided you follow the instructions, the jars will prove indespensable. The stylish and practical Kilner preserve jar with vintage styling is essential for any home preserver. The preserve jar features an easy to use metal screw top lid made up of 2 pieces, a replaceable vacuum seal and a metal screw band to secure the lid. Also suitable for general storage in and around the home. Good Vacuum Seal: A good vacuum seal has been achieved when the lid is pulled down towards the food in the jar, creating a dip in the lid. Figure A. Vacuum Seal Failure: A vacuum seal has not beet achieved if the lid when pressed down, makes a popping sound and there is movement. Figure B. www.kilnerjar.co.uk. Before use check your jars for chip or cracks in the glass. If defects are found replace with new jars. 70 mm lids fit Kilner preserve jars with a 70 mm mouth (0.25 l, 0.5 l & 1 l sizes). Jar and lids must be washed in warm soapy water. Before preserving, jars and lids must be sterilised in boiling water. Do not pour boiling water directly into your jars. When filling a hot jar be sure to leave appropriate space between the preserve and underside of lid, usually 1-2 cm. Air bubbles can be removed with a wooden or silicon spatula. Make sure that the jar rim is clean and place the vacuum seal on the jar, place the outer metal band on the lid and tighten. Do not retighten as this can result in seal failure. Sealed jar should be left in an upright position for 24 hours to cool. Always check screw band for signs of deterioration before use.

Store in a dark, dry and cool days.
