Dec 10, 2020

While 2020 has been a year marked by challenges and uncertainty, Instacart shoppers have stepped up during this uncertain time and lent a helping hand to millions of homes and countless communities across North America. The last year has been the busiest in Instacart’s history, with unprecedented customer demand for grocery delivery and pickup. We’re incredibly proud to serve as an essential service and grateful for the role shoppers played in 2020, making it possible for millions of customers to have their groceries and household goods delivered same-day.

Instacart shoppers have become an extension of people’s households and helped keep our communities safe as more people than ever before turned to grocery delivery during this pandemic. From bringing daily essentials to seniors sheltering in place, to making sure busy parents juggling remote work and distance learning have snacks for their kids, shoppers have delivered for the critical needs of customers everywhere.

Today, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the shopper community for all of your support throughout 2020. Because of you, families have had access to food they love and more time to enjoy it together.

Thank you bonuses for the Instacart community

This year, hundreds of thousands of people chose to shop with Instacart, helping connect customers to the retailers they love and the groceries and goods they need. As Instacart continues to serve as a lifeline for millions of people across the U.S. and Canada, we want to recognize our in-store teams as well as full-service shoppers for your commitment during this time of need.

Today, we’re announcing special thank you bonuses for in-store shoppers and shift leads, as well as full-service shoppers. As a token of our appreciation, we’re providing shopper bonuses of up to $500 to say thank you for this extraordinary year.

The bonuses will range from $50 to $500 for active shoppers who have shopped and delivered with Instacart throughout 2020. For full-service shoppers, the bonus amount will be based on the number of batches shopped over the past year. For in-store shoppers, it will be based on the amount of hours worked over the past month.

Continuing our commitment to supporting shoppers

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Instacart has introduced more than 20 new product features, health guidelines, extended pay for those affected by COVID-19, safety supplies including safety kits, access to free telemedicine, daily in-app wellness checks, and more. As we move into 2021, we will continue to support the health and safety of the shopper community during and long after COVID-19.

Today, we have more shoppers on the Instacart platform than ever before and we’re working tirelessly to continue to support this important community. We’re incredibly grateful for all the work that each of you do every single day — thank you for your continued dedication. As we wind down the year, we wanted to extend our warmest holiday wishes to each of you and your families.
