From July 1 through September 30, Chase and Instacart are partnering to offer eligible Chase Sapphire® and J.P. Morgan cardmembers additional points on qualifying Instacart purchases and up to $50 in statement credits towards Express memberships.

Does my Chase card qualify for the promotion?

Chase Sapphire—

  • Get up to $50 in statement credits when you sign up for or renew an annual or monthly Instacart Express membership, and pay with your Chase Sapphire card.1

Chase Sapphire Preferred—

  • Earn 3X total points when you make an eligible purchase directly through the Instacart mobile app or website with your Chase Sapphire Preferred® card. How can I tell if I received a credit on my account after signing up for an Express membership?

If you signed up for an annual Express membership, a $50 credit will post the same day your Instacart Express transaction posts on your Chase account. You will see the $50 statement credit as a line item (“Instacart Express Credit”) on your Chase account.  

If you signed up for a monthly Express membership, a $9.99 credit will post the same day your Instacart Express transaction posts on your Chase account. You will see the $9.99 statement credit as a line item (“Instacart Express Credit”) on your Chase account each month, up to a maximum accumulation of $50 in credits, for renewals that fall within the promotional period.  

How can I tell if I have an Express membership?

  • You can check the Instacart Express page under your Account to see if you have an active membership.
  • You can also see free delivery and a reduced service fee at checkout for orders $35+ per retailer within the Instacart mobile app or website

How can I add my Chase card as a payment method?

There are several ways to add a Chase card as an Instacart payment method. 

Express (New Members)—
New Express members can elect to use their Chase Sapphire or J.P. Morgan Reserve card when signing up for an Express subscription. 

  1. Navigate to the Instacart Express page by clicking or tapping Your Account, followed by Express
  2. If on web, or an updated version of the iOS or Android app:
    1. Select a Monthly or Annual plan, then press the green “Choose [Monthly/Annual] Plan” button. 
    2. On the next screen, “Confirm Your Subscription”, you will have the option to edit or add a payment method. 
  3. If on an old version of the iOS or Android app:
    1. Press the green “Join Express” button on the Express Account Page
    2. Choose an Annual or Monthly plan and press the corresponding green “Select [monthly/yearly] plan” button
    3. On the next screen, “Payment Methods”, you can edit or add a card and press the green “Confirm” button. 

Express (Existing Members)—
Existing members can easily change their active payment method to a Chase Sapphire or J.P. Morgan Reserve card through the following steps: 

  1. Navigate to the Instacart Express page by clicking or tapping Your Account, followed by Express
  2. In the Payment section of the Express Account Page, select Update My Card to change your payment method. 

When placing an order—
You can also change your default credit card for pickups or deliveries when you checkout. 

  • Upon adding all items to cart, press Go To Checkout
  • You will then be presented with a series of collapsible options, including address, delivery time, delivery instructions, phone number, and credit card. Press the arrow next to your credit card number to open the Choose a payment method section, which will allow you to add or edit your active payment method. 

Account settings—
You can add a new Chase Sapphire card to your account by following these steps: 

  1. Click or tap Your Account
  2. Select Your account Settings
  3. Select Payment Methods
  4. Choose Add credit card
  5. Enter the card information and Save

Note that adding a payment method via this screen will not automatically ensure that this payment method is used on orders, or on Express subscriptions. See the above instructions for ensuring each use case.

What if there are multiple authorized users on my Chase card?

The $50 credit is per credit card account. If you have multiple authorized users on your qualifying Chase account, the total credit for all users on the account will not exceed $50.

What if I decide to change my Express membership plan?

If you switch from a monthly Express membership to an annual Express membership within the promotional period, you will be credited the remaining balance of the $50 credit maximum. 

For example, if you get $9.99 credited for 2 months on the monthly plan and then switch to annual, you’ll be credited an additional $30.02 to make it $50 total.

If you start an annual Express membership and switch to monthly within the promotional period, you will not receive more than the $50 credit you already received for the annual Express membership.

For example, if you get a $50 statement credit upon starting the annual plan and then switch to monthly, you will not receive any additional credit.
