You can create an account by visiting instacart.com! Use your email address, Google, or Facebook authentication to sign up. You can also download the Instacart app on iOS or Android devices.   How many accounts can I have?  Only one personal account is permitted per person or household. Secondary accounts used for business purposes are acceptable. Accounts are not limited to one delivery address, or even one area! Entering a new delivery address when you log in will provide you with store options for that area. Use of any account you create will be subject to our Terms of Service.

The delivery fee depends on the size of your order and the delivery time that you choose. The fee for each delivery will be displayed when selecting a delivery window during checkout, before you place your order. Please keep in mind that all orders must be $10 or more. Instacart Express With Instacart Express, you will have no delivery fee on all orders over $35. Service fees may still apply. Busy Pricing When we experience high demand for a delivery time, a Busy Pricing delivery fee may apply. Our top priority is to provide customers with an amazing and reliable experience. Busy Pricing allows us to keep more delivery times open and ensure our service available to you even during the busiest parts of the day. Your delivery fee will be displayed clearly when you select a delivery time. Delivery fees that include Busy Pricing are noted. Does Busy Pricing change the price of my items? No, Busy Pricing only affects the delivery fee and will never affect the price of your groceries. My order was late but I paid for Busy Pricing. Can I have my money back? Yes! If your order is delivered late and you paid for Busy Pricing, we will automatically refund your Busy Pricing fee. The regular delivery fee will still apply to your order. How can I avoid paying Busy Pricing?You will be much more likely to pay standard delivery fees if you are able to schedule your delivery in advance. Customer Pricing How does Instacart determine customer pricing? Do those prices ever change? At Instacart, our goal is to deliver affordable pricing that makes our marketplace accessible to as many people as possible, while creating a fulfilling experience for our thousands of dedicated shoppers. As part of Instacart’s commitment to clear and affordable pricing, we regularly run limited time pricing tests for new and existing customers and Instacart Express members. There are several pricing options that we explore as part of these tests, including adjustments to the cost of the Instacart Express membership, service and delivery fees, and default tip amounts, among others. We use these tests to gather meaningful shopper and customer feedback that will help to inform and calibrate our pricing over the long-term. If you see a transaction on your card associated with Instacart, we can help identify it for you. Here are some first steps you can take to identify the charge: The charge may be your monthly or yearly Instacart Express membership renewal. Log into your account and visit Account > Instacart Express Review the page to see if you have an active Express Membership Confirm the type of Membership you have.  Here you can view the Next Payment date, which will help you identify the original charge amount and date. If you’d like to cancel your Express membership renewal, follow the steps in this article.   The charge may be part of a pending order or completed delivery. Log into your account and visit Account > Your Orders Orders will be listed by the date the order was placed. Select View Order detail for the order you want to review. Scroll to the bottom of the order to view a breakdown of all charges.   Additional assistance If you don’t think the charge is associated with your Instacart account, or if you do not have a Instacart account, please immediately reach out to Instacart Care at help@instacart.com. We're happy to help investigate to see if the charges are legitimate or fraudulent. Please contact us with the following information: The last four digits of your card number The date of the unauthorized charge(s) The amount of the unauthorized charge(s) We advise reaching out to Instacart Care before disputing unknown charges with your bank. If a dispute is filed, the associated account will be placed on hold while we investigate the dispute. The account holder will not be able to place any orders while the account is on hold. This process can take upwards of 90 days to resolve during which the account holder will be unable to access the account.  
Instacart Pickup is another way to order from Instacart. Pickup allows you to order online, set a pickup time, and collect your order at the store. Placing a Pickup order For certain areas Instacart serves, Pickup is an option you can select before you start shopping. To place an order for Pickup, shop your order on the Instacart app and, when checking out, select a time to come to the store to collect it.  You can see which stores in your area offer Pickup by clicking the Stores selector and choosing the Pickup toggle. To check if your preferred retailer and location offers Pickup, click or tap More Info under the store or look under the Pickup category during checkout. Any item available for delivery is also available for Pickup. Pickup fees vary by store. Be sure to check over the fee amounts when you select a Pickup time at checkout. It looks like this— Instacart Express customers with orders $35 and over always get free Pickup. When your order is ready for pickup, Instacart sends a text or in-app push notification to your phone along with directions for where and how to retrieve your order.  Occasionally, your order will be ready to pick up early. In these cases, we notify you—just in case you’d like to pick it up before the original order time. Don’t worry, though—we keep all your items in temperature-controlled storage until you arrive. Picking up We recommend downloading the Instacart app onto your phone, so you can stay up-to-date with notifications about your order. As you leave your house, tap the I’m on my way button so shoppers can get ready to bring out your order. When you arrive at the store, send a notification through the app by hitting the I’m here button. We also recommend sharing your location while using the Instacart app to help shoppers better time your grocery handoff. Learn more about location sharing.  Depending on the store, you may pick up your order inside or wait while we bring it out to your car. Most stores have dedicated parking spots for you to wait in while we bring your order out—we’ll always share store-specific instructions for your order before you arrive. For orders containing alcohol, you must have a valid form of ID.
Instacart Express is a membership option for customers who want to use Instacart regularly. For a flat annual cost or a low monthly fee, you can enjoy unlimited free deliveries* on all orders over $35. Instacart Express benefits Instacart Express members enjoy exclusive benefits on every order— $0 delivery fees on orders of $35 or more (typically $3.99-$7.99 for non-Express) Reduced service fees (typically 5% for non-Express)* No busy pricing fees during peak delivery hours Shop at a variety of stores with free delivery on the entire order *The service fee covers a broad range of operating costs including shopper operations, insurance, background checks, and Instacart Care. Instacart Express membership and renewal You can enjoy an Instacart Express membership and pay either monthly or annually. Terms for both membership types are shared when you sign up. Memberships automatically renew year to year or month to month (depending upon your membership term), unless you make changes in your account. Annual memberships are billed each year on the same date.  Monthly memberships are charged each month on the same day. *Note: This membership does not give you faster delivery or earlier time slots than other customers. Likewise, membership with Instacart Express does not guarantee that specific delivery slots will be available for a given delivery. Service fees, special handling fees, and/or tips may still apply. Estimated Taxes & Fees When first placing your order, we provide you with an estimate of the sales tax and any other applicable fees and taxes, such as bottle deposits and bag fees. These are the same types of fees that you would pay in the physical store. You can see any estimated taxes and fees applicable to your order on the right hand side of the checkout page. Hover over or touch the info button next to Estimated Taxes and Fees. Final taxes and fees will be included in your receipt after your order is picked and delivered. A breakdown of applied taxes and fees is visible on your delivery receipt under Order Totals. Sales Tax Depending on where your delivery address is located, sales tax may be applied to some or all of the items in you order. The sales tax total appears as a summary on your receipt. Bottle deposit and bag fees Bottle deposits and bag fees are collected in accordance with local city and state laws, wherever they are applicable. What are my local bottle deposit fees? You can purchase and send an Instacart Gift Card right from your account: Double check to make sure we deliver to the person you're buying the gift card for! Visit our service area page and enter their zip code. On a computer, log into your Instacart account Select Account > Buy Gift Card In the Amount section, select the amount for the gift card Select your payment method In the To field, enter the email address of the recipient.* Personalize your card with a message, if you’d like. When you're ready to buy the gift card, click the green Purchase button Your recipient will receive an email with instructions on how to use their Instacart Gift Card.  * Note: the Gift Card will only apply to an account with a matching email address. If the recipient does not have an Instacart account, they will need to create one. You may want to confirm the recipient’s Instacart account email before purchase. Instacart Gift Card is issued by Maplebear Inc. dba Instacart. The Gift Card is non-expiring and no fees related to its use are imposed. Use of the gift card is subject to the Terms of Service of Instacart; gift card cannot be used to purchase alcohol products or other gift cards; taxes, service fees and/or tips may still apply. Gift Card valid only in the United States and can only be used with one Instacart account. Instacart reserves the right to void Gift Cards (including as a component of your Gift Card balance), close customer accounts, and bill alternative forms of payment if Instacart suspects that a Gift Card is obtained, used, or applied to an Instacart account fraudulently, unlawfully, or otherwise in violation of these terms and Instacart's Terms of Service. Instacart is not a retailer or seller. Instacart may not be available in all zip codes. Gift Card balance may be checked in the Instacart account it is used with or via Instacart Care.  
Cub Foods stores in your region now offer a new, more convenient option for shopping with Instacart. You will now get your Instacart Pickup orders in climate-controlled lockers, located outside the front entrance of specific Cub stores. Here’s how it works— Shop and checkout on the Instacart app, selecting a time window during which your order will be available for pick up. Your order will stay in the locker until the store closes Arrive at the store, find the outdoor lockers at the front entrance, and open your app to find a special PIN in the dashboard Tap the screen in the center of the lockers and input your special PIN LED lights illuminate next to the locker(s) containing your order. Pull open the locker doors to access. If you accidentally close a locker door before you finish collecting your items, don’t worry. Your PIN works for an additional 15 minutes after you first open the locker(s) Collect your order and carry on living your life! There are 3 types of Pickup lockers: freezer, refrigerator, and room temperature (for shelf-stable foods like cereal) so your cool and frozen items are kept at a safe temperature before you pick them up. If your entire order won’t fit in available lockers, your app will note such and you can pick it up at a temperature-controlled storage area inside the store. Check your Instacart app (where you found your unique PIN) for additional directions. If you are unable to pick up your order before Cub closes for the night, your order will be returned inside the store and you will get a refund but charged a $15 fee.

To help improve the Instacart experience, we conduct user research with both customers and shoppers to better understand what works and what doesn’t. Feedback from both customers and shoppers directly inform our decisions. On top of contributing to the future of Instacart, we offer rewards to those who participate in user research studies. Customers will receive discounts off future order(s) and shoppers will get a shopper bump deposited directly to the Instacart Shopper app. We know your time is valuable and appreciate you spending it with us to improve Instacart. Types of user research— Surveys Video interviews Unmoderated studies where we ask you to record your screen as you complete certain tasks on Instacart. In-person shop-alongs where we accompany shoppers as you pick groceries and complete deliveries. Common Questions What's the time commitment?Our surveys usually take around five minutes, and a video interview may take an hour. It all depends on the research initiative and how we’d like to get your feedback. Who works on the research team? We have a number of people on the Research @ Instacart team, but you can generally expect to receive research invitations from research-recruiting@instacart.com. I signed up to participate in a video interview. Now what? Please find a quiet, private place with stable internet to respond to the questions. Interviews normally take between 30 - 90 minutes, depending on the research study. Am I allowed to discuss user research with others?Shopper participants sign an NDA prior to the study. We may share proprietary information during the sessions (e.g. unreleased designs)—it’s important not to discuss the specifics of your study with others. Interested in participating? We reach out directly to eligible customers and shoppers via email about potential research studies. We’ll ask you to sign a consent form prior to your research session where you agree to allow Instacart to use your feedback to improve the platform. You can update your Instacart Express credit card and subscription auto-renew settings by logging into your account, and selecting Account > Instacart Express. On the Express page, you can manage your Express subscription type, renewal settings, subscription payment method, and even set a subscription renewal reminder. Update your Express subscription payment method: Log in and click Account In the drop down menu, click Instacart Express Next to Credit card, click Edit payment method Click the preferred payment method, or add a new one by tapping +Credit card Enter the payment information and tap Save Changes Cancel or change your auto-renew settings: Log in and click Account In the drop down menu, click Instacart Express Next to Membership Plan, click End Membership If you think you might change your mind, you can Set a Reminder for yourself about the upcoming membership renewal instead. If you’re certain you’d like to stop renewal, click Continue to Cancel Please note that you must have a payment method saved under Credit Card prior to being able to cancel your membership Confirm your cancellation by clicking End, which will cancel your membership at the end of the indicated date. You’ll be taken back to the Express page, where you can view your membership end date. Your Express membership will remain active until this date. You will see that your membership is not set for auto-renewal if you see the ability to Renew Membership. If you change your mind before the cancellation date, just return to the Express page and click Renew Membership to turn renewal back on. Cancelling your membership renewal will not cancel your active membership for the current period, or issue a refund for a membership renewal charge.  *For all members, you may cancel your Instacart Express membership within the first 15 calendar days of your paid Instacart Express membership and receive a refund of the Instacart Express membership fee you paid, but only if you have not placed any orders using your Instacart Express membership. If you cancel at any other time, you will not receive a refund, but you can continue to enjoy the Free Deliveries through the end of your billing period.
