Coriandrum sativum. USDA organic. Annual. Full sun to part shade. Sow in spring or late summer. Heirloom: The foilage (cilantro) and seeds (coriander) of this herb are used throughout the world. Fresh cilantro leaves have an intense flavor that balances well with other strong-flavored ingredients. Dried coriander seeds add a nutty, citrusy flavor to many dishes. Also called Chinese parsley, cilantro is an essential ingredient in Indian, Asian, and Latin American cuisines. A thousand uses from as simple as a sprig in chicken soup to chopped in Mexican food. Crushed coriander seeds are used in pickling spice, curry, and chili powders, salads, eggs, pastries, and bread. We chose long standing for its excellent flavor and improved leaf production; it won't flower and go to seed as quickly as other varieties when hot weather arrives. A good container variety, it can be grown indoors for fresh cilantro leaves year-round. Attracts beneficial insects if allowed to flower. Cilantro grows best in cool temperatures. This packet sows up to 123 feet. No GMOs. All our seeds are untreated. www.botanicalinterests.com. Certified organic by the Colorado Dept. of Agriculture. We are dedicated to inspiring and educating the gardener in you. That's why we've put even more helpful information inside.
