Smart Living™ Collection 10 Inch Skillet.
Preseasoned cast iron.
Cast iron retains heat and ensures even heat distribution.
Preseasoned cast iron forms its own natural stick-resistant surface.
Cast iron is perfect for searing, browning and sauteing.
Directions
Before use:
Peel off or remove any labels. Clean cookware with hot water (no soap), and dry it well. Prepare the interior before cooking by coating the surface with vegetable oil.
Cooking:
Select the proper burner size. This cast iron cookware conducts heat excellently and delivers even heat distribution, so use only low to medium heat for most cooking and high heat for boiling water and reducing liquids. Using cookware on a glass stovetop is not recommended.
Caution:
Handles and lids will get warm to the touch. Always use potholders or oven mitts, even during stovetop use, as under certain conditions handles can be very hot. Never preheat empty cookware or boil dry cookware, as this could potentially damage your stove, as well as the cookware.
After use:
Hand wash cast iron cookware with hot water and a firm brush. Do not use soap or detergent. Dry immediately with a towel. Then apply a thin coat of vegetable oil to the interior of the pan immediately after cleaning. Towel off. Store cookware in a dry, cool location. Never clean this cookware in the dishwasher.
Seasoning of your cast iron:
This cast iron is preseasoned and after initial cleaning can be used right away. Over time this piece may need to be seasoned if it is washed with strong soap or allowed to rust. Seasoning is a process by which a layer of animal fat or vegetable oil is applied and cooked onto cast iron. The seasoning layer protects the cookware from rusting, and provides a nonstick surface for cooking. Once cleaned, cookware can then be seasoned. Simply wipe the cleaned cast iron with a good oil or fat and use it for frying and roasting.
