Directions

Stovetop Directions: Heat water (Adds margarine [or butter] and salt, if desired. Once cup uncooked rice makes about 2 cups cooked rice) in saucepan until boiling. Stir in rice and return to boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir. Let stand 5-7 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Fluff with fork. Microwave Directions: Microwave rice and water (Adds margarine [or butter] and salt, if desired. Once cup uncooked rice makes about 2 cups cooked rice) in large, covered microwave-safe bowl on high for time listed in chart. Do not remove lid. Let stand 5-7 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Fluff with fork. Microwave ovens vary; adjust times as needed. Cooking Measurement Chart Rice: 2 servings; 1 cup rice; 1 cup water; 7 minutes microwave time; 2 cups yield; 4 servings; 2 cups rice; 2 cups water; 9 minutes microwave time; 4 cups yield; 6 servings; 3 cups rice; 3 cups water; 12 minutes microwave time; 6 cups yield. Note: Add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 teaspoon salt per cup of rice when cooking, if desired.
