Servings: 1 (1-1/2 cups) water (or milk) (For thicker oatmeal use less water (or milk) for thicker oatmeal use more water (or milk)): (1/4 cup) steel cut oats; Servings 4 (4 cups) water (or milk) (For thicker oatmeal use less water (or milk) for thicker oatmeal use more water (or milk)): (1 cup) steel cut oats; Preparation Directions: (1) Bring water or milk to a boil in a medium saucepan. (2) Stir in oats; reduce heat to medium low. (3) Simmer uncovered 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until liquid is absorbed and oats are tender. Prepare Ahead by Soaking Overnight: Boil 4 cups of water in a pot. Add 1 cup of steel cut oats and simmer 1 minute. Cover pot and store overnight in refrigerator.
