Brown Basmati Rice.
Cooking Instructions: Soak rice 15-30 minutes for extra length (optional). 1 cup of rice, 1-3/4 cups of water, 1 tbsp of oil/butter (optional), pinch of salt (optional). Stove Top: Rinse measured rice 1-2 times to remove extra starch then drain. Place the rice into a saucepan and add measured water, oil and salt. Place saucepan (uncovered) over high heat and bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Let water reduce slightly below the rice level, then lower the heat. Place tight lid on the saucepan and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Microwave: Combine 1 cup of rice in a microwave-safe dish with 2-1/2 cups of water, salt and oil/butter. Cover and microwave on medium for 20-25 minutes (Cooking times are approximate). Allow rice to stand for 5 minutes.
