Estd. 1824, George & J. G. Smith Banffshire, Scotland. Non-chill filtered. Faithfully capturing the originally distillery character. Aged 16 years. Natural cask strength. Restricted release from George & J. G. Smith LTD. When George Smith founded his distillery in 1834, he resolved to create a whisky by which all others could be measured. History has judged him successful: his celebrated malt remains today the only whisky that can by rights be called the Glenlivet. Deep in Speyside's wild Livet Valley, he found the perfect conditions for his craft. Pure, mineral-rich, water springing cold from rugged limestone and year-round temperatures. The lowest in Britain, so the whisky could mature as slowly and steadily as it should, the Glenlivet today is still appreciated for its supreme elegance and rewarding complexity. So it's good to know that the spirit of George Smith's original whisky lives on at its heart. The Glenlivet Nadurra (Gaelic for Natural) is a true and authentic expression of our founder's vision, produced to the most exacting standards of today's distillery. Aged 16 Years: After 16 years in first-fill American oak casks, Nadurra is bottled at natural cask strength to deliver a rich and rewarding taste. By omitting modern chill filtering, we preserve intact the full flavour of the malt, uniquely capturing the original character of George Smith's distillery: the pure expression of a great tradition. Since this is whisky in its most natural state - with nothing added or taken away - you may detect a slight haze when adding water or ice. Tasting Notes: Colour: Bright gold. (A gentle haze may appear when water is added.) The Nose: A fresh summer-like medley of floral and sweet spice aromas enhanced by gentle notes of toasted oak. The Taste: smooth and silky with the sweetness of soft fruits and honeyed flowers balanced by a dry, oak finish of considerable length with notes of ginger and hazelnuts. Cask Strength: 54.5% alc./vol. Product of Scotland.
