Directions

Collards benefit from being boiled in salted water for 15-20 minutes. You may also wilt them in a covered non-stick skillet over Medium-Low heat for about 15 minutes, with 1-2 cups water or chicken broth to keep greens from sticking to the pan. Or rinse and drain the leaves and microwave them in a covered container on High for about 13 minutes, before proceeding with your recipe. Cooking Method: Wilt: In covered 12-inch non-stick skillet (amount broth/water needed to keep from sticking while cooking) (Start at high heat, then reduce to Med.-High after a couple of minutes, adding liquid as needed to keep from sticking. Lid on to speed cooking). Boil: Boil in broth or water until tender (Blanch in boiling, salted water, stirring occasionally to submerge greens. Drain, cool and squeeze out excess water). Microwave: Covered microwave-safe container (vented), stir once (Tested with a 1100-watt microwave oven. If yours is lower wattage, increase cooking time; if higher, decrease time). Collard Greens (12 oz): Wilt: 15 minutes (about 1-1/4 cup). Boil: 15 minutes. Microwave: 13 minutes; rinse and drain greens first. Cut 'n Clean Greens Freshness and Handling: Triple washed, cut and ready to use. Keep refrigerated in crisper. Cut 'n Clean Greens come in special breathable bags to maximize freshness. For best fresh taste, consume greens on or before expiration date. Greens can be refreshed by rinsing in cold water before cooking. Greens can be placed in the freezer (in existing sealed bag) for future use.
