It's so easy to make a fabulous cake! Just add egg whites, oil & water. Preheat: Oven to 350 degrees F for metal and glass pans, 325 degrees F for dark or coated pans (Add 3-5 minutes to bake time for dark or coated pans). Grease sides and bottom of each pan with shortening or oil spray. Flour lightly. (Use baking cups for cupcakes). Blend: Cake mix, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup vegetable oil and 3 large egg whites in a large bowl on low speed until moistened (about 30 seconds). Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour batter into pans and bake immediately. Bake: Following chart below. Cake is done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. Cool completely before frosting. Pan Size: Two 8 inch round; 26-31 min. bake time. Two 9 inch round; 23-28 min. bake time. 13 inch x 9 inch round; 23-28 min. bake time. 10 inch or fluted tube pan; 33-36 min. bake time. 24 cupcakes; 18-21 min. bake time. High altitude (over 3,500 ft.): Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Stir in 1/3 cup flour into mix. Use 3 egg whites, 1 cup water and 1/4 cup oil. Mix as directed above. Two 9-inch pans 25-28 min; 13 x 9 inch pan, 24-28 min, 10 inch or fluted tube pan 34-38 min; 24 cupcakes 14-17 min. 8-inch cake not recommended. How to Frost a Layer Cake: Look like a pro and create a masterpiece when you follow this simple guide - Place the first layer rounded side down and frost. Place the second layer rounded side up on the frosted layer. Coat the side of the cake with a thin layer of frosting to seal in the crumbs and then frost the side in swirls, making a rim about 1/4 inch high above the cake. Fill in the top with the remaining frosting. You'll have a professional looking cake.
