Pinto & Soldier Beans, Dehydrated Vegetable Blend, Herbs & Spices, Vegetarian Beef Flavor (Vegetarian Beef Flavor: Organic Tapioca Maltodextrin, Salt, Yeast Extract, Non Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Herbs and Spices, Dehydrated Tomato and Bell Pepper, Natural Flavor (Contains Torula Yeast), Cane Sugar, Dehydrated Celery) and Chicken Base (Chicken Base: Tapioca Maltodextrin, Salt, Potato Flour, Onion, Garlic, Natural Chicken Broth, Dried Chicken, Cane Sugar, Celery, Curry, Turmeric, Black Pepper).


Directions

You Will Need: 1 lb ground turkey or beef; tortillas or tortilla chips (optional); sour cream or cheese (optional); 15 oz can chopped tomatoes or Mexican style tomatoes. Wash & clean beans. In a 4 quart sauce pan add 8 cups water and beans, cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer for 45 minutes. Add spice packet, vegetarian beef flavor, chicken base, precooked meat, canned tomatoes, and crushed peppers (optional). Continue to simmer until beans are done. Cooking Time: 90 minutes (with pre-soaked beans). Serving Size: 1 cups. Number of Servings: 10 cups. Read bean hints on reverse. Crockpot Directions: Add water, the entire soup mix and precooked meat to the slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 hours (minimum) to 10 hours (maximum). Cook on high for 3 1/2 hours (minimum) to 6 (maximum). Add tomato right before serving. Enjoy! Bake Tortillas: Preheat oven to 400. Stack 4 tortillas then cut into 1/4 inch strips. In a medium bowl, toss tortilla strips with 2 teaspoons oil. Spread the oiled tortillas on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until crisp. Serve on top of soup. Cooking Variations: Add Kielbasa, ground turkey or beef. Top with chopped cilantro, fresh tomatoes, olives, onion, or sour cream. Use purchased corn or tortilla chips in place of baked tortillas. Reduce sodium by limiting the amount of vegetarian beef flavor (brown packet) used. Salt and pepper to taste. Vegetarian: Leave out yellow packet of chicken base and meat. Then prepare the package as directed. (Beef flavor is yeast based.) If desired add meat substitute.
