Short Grain Brown Rice is a full-flavored rice and an excellent source of whole grains. After cooking, the grains are soft and cling together. Because of these properties, short grain brown rice is especially suitable in recipes where a creamy texture is desired, such as puddings, rice balls, croquettes, paella and risotto.

Stove Top Cooking Instructions: For 2-3 servings you'll need 1/2 cup dry rice, 1 cup water or broth* and 1-1/2 tsp. butter or oil. For 4-6 servings you'll need 1 cup dry rice, 1-3/4 cups water or broth* and 1 Tbsp. butter or oil. For 8-10 servings you'll need 2 cups dry rice, 3-1/2 cups water or broth* and 2 Tbsp. butter or oil. 1. Combine rice, water and butter (optional) in a pot, and bring to a boil. 2. Cover with a tight-fitting lid, reduce heat to low simmer and cook 45 minutes. 3. Remove from heat (with lid on!) and let steam for 10 minutes. To prepare in a rice cooker, use same water-rice ratio. *If rice is crunchy at the end of cooking time, it may be necessary to add 1-2 Tbsp. liquid and cook longer.
