Directions
Oven baking bag & seasoning mix:
Time:
Prep time: 15 minutes.
Cooking time: 1 hour.
Stand time: 5 minutes.
You will need:
1 pkg. Sauer's meat loaf seasoning mix.
1-1/2 lbs. ground beef.
4 cups vegetables, such as carrots, potatoes, onions and bell peppers cut into 1 inch pieces.
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs or 1 cup soft bread crumbs (2 slices of bread).
1/2 cup milk.
1 egg.
Important: allow 8 inches for bag to expand while cooking. Baking bag should not touch oven walls or racks.
Direction:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange opened baking bag in a 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Combine seasoning mixture with milk, egg and breadcrumbs in a bowl. Blend ground beef with seasoning mix.
2. Shape into 8x4 inch loaf. Place loaf in bag. Add vegetables and close bag loosely with nylon tie and cut four small holes in top of bag to allow steam to escape.
3. Bake in oven for 1 hour or until done. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes. Cut open bag. Slice meat loaf and serve with vegetables. Makes 8 servings.
Variations:
For meatloaf without vegetables, shake 1 tablespoon flour into baking bag then proceed as above.
