Laundry treatment & dyeing aid. Enhances color. Increases color retention. Reduces bleeding. Works best on: cotton; linen; rayon; ramie; cellulose fibers; fabric blends (The blend must contain cellulose fibers like cotton, linen, rayon or ramie). Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative reduces bleeding while simultaneously enhancing the color of your dye project. Conforms to ASTM D-4236. ritdye.com. Made in the U.S.A. of U.S. & imported materials.

Directions

Tip: Can also be used on already dyed commercially manufactured fabrics. Choose your method: For general applications, use the sink or bucket method. For maximum effectiveness, use the stovetop method. If you are working with small items or are looking to apply Rit ColorStay dye fixative to a small or partially dyed area, use the spray method. For applying to large items, use the washing machine method. Sink or bucket method: For every pound of dry fabric (i.e. 2 adult large t-shirts), use 1/2 bottle (4 ozs.) With 3 gallons of the hottest water safe for fabric. Shake well before using. Wear rubber gloves. Add hot water to a plastic bucket or stainless steel sink. Ideally, water temperature should be 140 degrees F or greater. Add Rit ColorStay dye fixative. Mix well. Add fabric. Stir consistently for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water. Stovetop method: Using a stainless steel pot, follow the directions for the sink or bucket method above. Heat water to almost boiling (200 degrees F or greater), maintaining the temperature for the duration of use. For detailed instructions, visit ritdye.com/fixative. Spray method: Rit ColorStay dye fixative bottle can be used with a spray trigger. The solution can also be poured into a spray bottle. For best results, apply heat. For detailed instructions, visit ritdye.com/fixative. Washing machine method: Can be used in top-loader, front-loader or he machines. For detailed instructions, visit ritdye.com/fixative. Please Note: Rit ColorStay dye fixative will greatly improve wash fastness, but will not completely prevent dyed fabric from bleeding. Always wash dyed fabric separately with cold water.

Warnings

Eye and skin irritant. Harmful if swallowed. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash throughly after handling. First Aid: In case of eye contact, immediately flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Call physician. In case of skin contact, flush with water. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Give large quantities milk or water. Call physician immediately. Keep out of reach of children.
