New flavor tastes like the death of my childhood
    Reviewed on September 5, 2022 by SnowStorm32 on lays.com
I've loved these chips since I was a kid. I'd eat multiple bags a week and they were my go-to gaming snack of choice. I bought these recently after a couple months' hiatus (because I'm poor) and was really looking forward to having my favorite chip again. I was immediately suspicious of the massive overseasoning. I tried them anyway and was disgusted. Waaay overpowering and left a weird taste and texture in my mouth. I thought maybe I got a bad batch but then noticed the "New Flavor!" tag. I tried to keep eating them but couldn't. I tossed them. I may be poor but I still have standards. Bring back the old recipe!

    Don’t fix what’s not broken!
Reviewed on July 15, 2022 by Former Lays lover on lays.com
The new flavor is terrible! At first I was excited but as I ate it, it does NOT have the old flavor intensity. I wanted to have that zest but you’d never get there, the new flavor would tease your taste buds with an underwhelming coat of flavor. I’ve bitten into what I thought were smaller chips but it’s just chunks of dried up clusters of flavors. The old one was my absolute favorite since I was a kid! I will respect lays for listening to the reviewers to bring it back! As of now, we will have to wait and find out whether lays does listen to their customers. Am going to stop buying them until you bring back the old flavor. They were the best for a reason!

What Happened to My Favorite Chip?
Reviewed on June 26, 2022 by NeedOldRecipeBack on lays.com
Eating a bag of my lifetime favorite Lay’s Sour Cream an Onion Chip and thought they were stale and bland. Noticed the “new recipe” on the bag which explains why my fresh bag tastes different. I used to like the salty tang and powdery residue on my fingers. Now there is no distinguishable flavor. Tossing them and won’t buy anymore. Bye bye chips! Also, I’ve NEVER looked up chips on the internet to see what happened.

    New Flavor is Bad Flavor
    Reviewed on June 4, 2022 by 4 Decade Fan...til now on lays.com
My daughter and I are big Lay's Sour Cream & Onion Chip fans, and will indulge in these every two weeks. I've been enjoying this constant salty, perfectly balanced snack for over 40 years. Imagine my disappointment to discover this "new flavor" with our latest bag. These are nothing like the original and are awful compared to them. I've lost a lot of things over the last 2 years, but I didn't think my favorite comfort snack would be one of them. Please don't be like Coke and lose your base over "New Coke." Please give us back the original Sour Cream & perfectly balanced Onion chips. If this stays, I will not be buying Lay's or other PepsiCo products. Why should I try to like something you make if you'll change it later?

New lays sour cream and onion flavor
Reviewed on August 23, 2022 by Roxy on lays.com
I bought new improved lays sour cream and onion. All I can say is Why? I loved SnO Lays now I can only eat just one. It has a milky chemical flavor that lingers on your tongue. Please sale the original Lays S n O.

    Absolutely ZERO flavoring! What happened?
Reviewed on June 2, 2022 by Nasako on lays.com
What the heck happened? These taste like PLAIN chips? Did something happen at the factory that makes these? This is seriously gross. There wasn't even a tiny hint of sour cream and onion flavoring in the entire bag! It was a bag of PLAIN chips!

    Now with more flavor
Reviewed on June 3, 2022 by Siege on lays.com
These have been my favorite chips since I was a kid, but this new recipe is too overpowering... there's a strange aftertaste. I didn't realize the chips were different until I opened the bag and saw how seasoned they were. They're not bad per se, but in comparison to the airy, light balance of the previous version, it simply isn't the same. The flavor is strong, but it doesn't taste good in my opinion. Like someone dumped too much sauce onto your food. I won't be buying anymore of these new "more flavor" bags in the meantime--I try to eat a few chips, and then immediately feel like I need to put the bag away. Unless that was the goal? Is this a new strategy to convince people to eat healthier? The previous recipe was perfect, please bring it back!

Lay's sour cream and onion has always been my favorite potato chip. I do not like the new extra flavor recipe. I don't understand why they changed it. I will not buy it again.

New flavor turned my favorite chip into a disaster
Reviewed on June 26, 2022 by pleaseBringBackMyLays on lays.com
The sour cream & onion Lays is (was!) my favorite chip in the whole world. And now, I absolutely hate the "more flavor" change and am pleading Lays to please revert back to the original sour cream & onion Lays. At the very least, please continue to manufacture both the original flavor and the "more flavor" version, so consumers get to choose. Please Lays, please. Please don't do this to us. We need our original Sour Cream and Onion Lays back.

Extra flavoring is a bit too much
Reviewed on May 25, 2022 by ElephantPaw on lays.com
I love sour cream and onion chips and have been eating them since I was a kid. I didn't realize the bag I recently bought was a new "more flavor added" version until I opened it and saw the seasoning on the chips. While not horrible, it definitely isn't as good as the old ones used to be. The sour cream flavor is slightly heavier. I join the other reviewers in saying, please bring back the old recipe!

It was great! WAS.. I can't handle eatting them anymore. I'd make cheese whiz sandwiches. Use them with my cottage cheese, every burger meal almost and now I can't handle more than a couple chips before I feel like im going to hurl.. its tooooo much. Bring the old lays back!

Too much of a good thing, is not a good thing.
Reviewed on May 8, 2022 by Laysfanforlife on lays.com
These have been a staple in my family for generations. The latest bag I picked up was marked, "Now more flavor in every bite". I missed that at the store, but there's no missing it when you look in the bag or take a bite. On most flavors, I believe this would be a good thing. However, the sour cream and onion flavor was already perfect. I'm not an onion person so that is probably a factor here, but I do believe it's a little excessive in this case.

    Too much flavor

There's a reason these were everyone's favorite... they were already perfect. Why mess with a good thing?? The new extra flavor is really disgusting and overpowering, and I'm just grossed out by them. Please go back to the old recipe!

New Sour Cream & Onion is TRASH
Reviewed on June 18, 2022 by GothamLady on lays.com
Unashamed to say I could crush a bag of these by myself at movie night l. Everyone knows these were my favorite and would bring them as fun “payment” when they would crash at my place for the night. I thought I got an old bag that had gone bad the first time I tried this new flavor but then it happened again, and again. Way to much of the green seasoning, tastes almost like pesto has been added. It’s gross, I can’t eat more than 3 chips. BRING BACK THE OLD SOUR CREAM & ONION.

    Yuck! Why Lays, why?
Reviewed on May 9, 2022 by WhyLaysWhy on lays.com
I have loved these for years. The latest bag I thought the factory messed up and over seasoned them. Nope, the bag is labeled “more flavor.” If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Lays, please bring back the original sour cream and onion.
