Directions

You will need: 2 cups hot water, 1/2 tsp salt. 2 tbsp butter. For topping 2/3 cup milk. 1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey (or) 1lb ground sausage. 1. Cook: cook ground meat in 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat 6 to 8 minutes, breaking up and stirring. Drain; return cooked meat to skillet. Stir in hot water, salt and butter. Gently stir in potatoes. Heat to boiling over high heat, stirring gently, until butter is melted. 2. Cover: reduce heat to medium. Spread mixture evenly; press firmly. Cover: cook 10 minutes, without stirring. Uncover and continue to cook until liquid is absorbed and bottom is golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. While potatoes are cooking, stir milk and topping mix in bowl with whisk or fork. Set aside to thicken. 3. Turn: turn potato mixture over in sections. Spread evenly; press firmly. Increase heat to medium-high. Cook 2 to 4 minutes or until bottom is golden brown. 4. Top: remove from heat. Add topping. For food safety and quality, follow the cooking directions.
