Award Winning FUD Cotija cheese originated in the Mexican state of MichoacƔn in the town of Cotija. It is still being produced some 400 years after it was first introduced.
Cotija cheese is a cowās milk hard cheese that is grainy and crumbly with a resemblance to feta cheese.
The grated version of cotija cheese resembles Parmesan cheese and can be used in the same way: sprinkle some on top of pasta, in tacos, or in such soup dishes as Tarascan (pinto bean and tomato).
ā¢ Full of Flavor: Zesty and distinctive, cotija cheese has a long tradition in Mexican cooking. Our cotija comes already grated, saving you preparation time and cleanup in the kitchen. Its resealable pack helps maintain freshness between uses.
ā¢ Good source of calcium and protein. This grated cotija is a gluten-free food*, so it can be conscientiously served and enjoyed.
ā¢ Recipe Idea: Papas rellenas or fried stuffed potatoes are a great addition to the menu and a favorite with kids. Mash potatoes and add ground beef, seasoning, and veggies. Once cooled, add breading and fry. Top with cotija for a delectable finish.
ā¢ The resealable package of cotija is easy to store and will stay fresh in the refrigerator.
