In 1962 he founded Turano Baking Company, a 1,000 square foot bakeshop in Chicago, Illinois. This small bakery made a big impression amongst surrounding neighborhoods due to the generations of authentic Italian recipes Mariano brought with him from his hometown of Cosenza. As years have passed, Mariano's sons, Renato, Umberto, and Giancarlo have made it their mission to carry on the tradition of excellence, creativity and reliability their father began over fifty years ago, making Turano Baking Company the nation's leading premium bread bakery.
