Lifting Women Up— Celebrating Women’s History Month

This March, Instacart’s [email protected] employee resource group (ERG) celebrated Women’s History month with the theme Lifting Women Up – Connection and Growth. The ERG’s goal behind the theme was to shine a spotlight on advocacy, uplift organizations driving women empowerment globally, and celebrate the inspiring stories of [email protected] members at Instacart.
Throughout the month, [email protected] hosted a variety of inspirational and interactive programming including a month-long speaker series. The ERG brought in women from across the business and industry to chat about women’s advocacy in the workplace, advice on career growth, and how women can find their voice.
“We designed the speaker events to create space for the community to build connections and learn ways to chart their own path for growing their career, setting and achieving personal and professional goals, and overcoming obstacles and challenges,” said [email protected] Pillar Lead, Martha Judd.
[email protected] also spent the month spotlighting and encouraging employees to donate to global organizations focused on women empowerment including the Malala Fund, Girls Who Code and The Loveland Foundation.

To wrap-up the month of celebrations, the ERG hosted happy hours across Instacart offices as a way to bring the community together. Dozens of [email protected] members and allies stopped by to enjoy delicious drinks, eats, and treats from local women-owned businesses.
“We wanted to provide a fun and relaxed environment where women and allies can connect with one another and build relationships outside of the everyday job responsibilities, over good food (and drinks!),” said Pillar lead Gabriela Poveda Posada. “The goal is that these events will help to foster a sense of community and belonging within the company, while also providing opportunities for individuals to network and develop new relationships.”
Upon reflecting on the importance of the month, the [email protected] leads collectively said this about the impact they have and will continue to have at Instacart.
“We strive to ensure women and their perspectives are always in the room and part of the decision. From women in executive leadership positions, to women using our platform to receive items from their cart, we have seen first hand how women make a positive impact on our product, our business, and our company culture.”
