What’s New on Carrot Academy

We’re always working to give shoppers the resources you need to be successful on the Instacart platform. Whether you’re a brand new shopper looking to get started or you just want to pick up some additional best practices, our robust library of optional lessons can help you learn valuable ways to hone your shopping skills.

Carrot Academy is our lesson library, accessible directly from the Shopper app. To get there, go to the “How Am I Doing?” page in your Shopper app, and tap “Improve your skills with lessons.” From there, you can access a wide variety of helpful lessons on a range of interesting topics.

Since we first launched Carrot Academy over a year ago, we’ve been expanding our content library and developing new lessons to help shoppers. 98% of shoppers who complete Carrot Academy lessons would recommend them to other shoppers, and completing lessons can increase shoppers’ customer ratings as well. Today, we’re sharing the latest updates on what’s new in Carrot Academy — try a new lesson today!

Getting started with Instacart

If you’re a new shopper, or are looking to pick up some additional advice on how to shop more effectively, our onboarding and introductory lessons are tailored just for you.

In the onboarding section, you’ll find interactive lessons on basic app navigation, shopping using the Shopper app, and problem solving. Here you can learn how to accept an order, make replacements, review items, and check out. You can also learn tips on how to solve any problems that may come up while shopping or delivering.

Once you’ve completed the onboarding lessons, we recommend moving on to the introductory lessons, which offer more advice on how to shop with quality. Learn how to make better replacements, find items efficiently, pick high-quality items like produce, and communicate with your customers. Most of these lessons include short videos, so they’re fun and easy to follow. If you’re looking for somewhere to start, we recommend “Introduction to Making Great Replacements” — over 80,000 shoppers have taken this lesson!

Try something new

After you’ve mastered the art and skill of grocery shopping, you might be interested to learn more about some of the other types of products that are available on the Instacart platform. Try the “Shopping for Clothing and Accessories” lesson to learn best practices that can help at retailers like H&M, Dick’s Sporting Goods, or Walmart. Or check out the “Shopping at Sephora” lesson for details on how to navigate the store, find items, communicate with your customers, and make replacements for makeup and other personal care items.

We’re continuing to roll out more lessons around specific retailers or types of products, so feel free to keep checking back for the latest content.

Keeping the community safe

In addition to all the great educational content that’s available on Carrot Academy, we’ve also introduced three short and engaging lessons on safety for the benefit of the entire Instacart community. These three lessons — sexual misconduct prevention & reporting, which we developed in partnership with RAINN, along with food safety and defensive driving — can be accessed directly from your Shopper profile. These lessons were first introduced in California, and are now available for all shoppers on the platform, so you can learn best practices on keeping the community safe.
