Changing How Ratings Work
You’ve told us that the current ratings system needs changes, that it’s frustrating when a few bad ratings affect your access to batches. That’s why we’re changing how ratings work to make it more fair and less subjective.
A new rating system
Instead of prioritization of batches being based on having the highest rating possible, shoppers will now need to have a 4.7 or above to maintain prioritization. This means low ratings will now have less impact.
If your rating falls below 4.7 you’ll see a batch a few minutes after shoppers who have a 4.7 rating or above see it.
This change will go into effect on June 10.
Ratings forgiveness
We’ll now drop ratings from customers who have given fewer than 5 stars on their last 3 orders. As part of a community built on best intent, it’s important that customers recognize the effort and care shoppers provide and assume the best of their shoppers.
As usual, we’ll continue to drop a low rating if there is severe weather, low inventory at the store or if we receive multiple reports or our systems detect customer fraud.
These changes are live in the app today.
At Instacart, we’re committed to creating a community built on best intent. We look forward to continuing to implement your feedback and developing new features that ensure our platform is fair for everyone. We’re excited to deliver product features related to our fourth commitment, recognition and rewards for the best of the bunch, next month.
