Now more than ever, shoppers are looking for ways to boost your income and earn more on your terms. Maybe you only want to shop at certain stores, or shop within a few miles of home — you always get to decide which batch is best for you. We want to continue supporting your flexibility while also offering new ways to earn more.

Today, we’re introducing a new feature that will help you maximize your shopping time, increase your earnings, and help more customers. This feature will let you add an additional order to your existing batch without going out of your way.

Don’t want that batch? Don’t take it. Want to earn some extra money while you’re already shopping? Now you can do that too. We’re continuing to put the shopping experience in shoppers’ hands, enhancing your earning potential and helping you get the most out of your time in the store.

Introducing Add-On Orders

To help you maximize your earnings and shopping time, we’re introducing add-on orders, a new feature that lets you add a new order to a batch you’ve already accepted.

After you’ve accepted a batch, you may receive a notification to add a new customer order from the same store to your current batch. This order will only be available to you, and you’ll be given time to evaluate the order. As always, you’ll see the earnings estimate, number of items and units, and delivery distance before accepting.

To accept the add-on order, simply tap “Accept add-on” and it will be added to your batch. If you don’t want to accept, hit the “Decline” button or let the time run out if needed. Once you accept the order, it will show up in your app like any other multi-order batch.

We’re piloting this new feature in select zones to start, and we’re excited to bring it to more zones in the coming weeks. Shoppers in pilot zones will get an email with more information as the feature is launched in their area.

Shopping with Instacart allows you to earn on your own terms — when, where, and how you want. Our dedicated team is focused on building new product and technology enhancements to help shoppers find, choose, and unlock the batches you want to shop, and we look forward to sharing more in the coming months. Thanks as always for being part of the Instacart community.
